Analysts Split On Whether PS3 Beat Xbox 360 In April
Mon, 12 May 2008 22:02:49 -0500
by Billy Brown
PS3 outsold Xbox 360 in North America the first two months of the year, only to have Microsoft's console take the month of March.
Now that April is done, which next-gen console took the number two slot? It depends on who you ask.
According to Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan, Sony sold 290,000 units while the 360 sold 15K less at 275,000. However, Mr. Pachter predicted that Sony won in March, only to be proven wrong once the official NPD numbers came in. Whether he's nailed it this time remains to be seen.

Estimated Release Date: 12/31/2007 for the PS3
Developer: Polyphony Digital
Genre: Third Person Shooter
Announced in November of 2004 (and finally announced officially at E3 2005 by Hideo Kojima). The title is a next-generation adventure set in the aftermath of MGS2: Sons of Liberty. Kojima is in charge of as game design, production, and direction (along with additional director Shuyo Murata), with Ken-Ichiro Imaizumi producing the title and Yoji Shinkawa handling character design.
The concept behind the project is "No place to hide", and the new edition of the series will force Solid Snake into unexpected circumstances in an all-new storyline that breaks away in some ways from the previous MGS franchise entries. This will be a great addition to anyone's PS3 collection, once you're able to find a PS3 in stock, of course!

Genre: Racing
The fifth edition of the blockbuster racing series, expected to be in development for the next-generation PlayStation console (PS3). Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi is considering complex crash simulating and realistic damage modeling, and possible support of an EyeToy camera unit. From the demonstrations of other PS3 games using the eyetoy, it looks to be one hell of a PS3 utility.

Estimated Release Date: 12/31/2006 for the PS3
Developer: Guerilla Games
Genre: First Person Shooter
The war rages on as the Killzone franchise continues with sequels and spin-offs. After an expected sequel on PS2, the world was stunned with the presentation of a next-gen follow-up Killzone for PS3, while Killzone: Liberation was later announced for PSP. However, rumors and listings still point to the possibility of a second PS2 entry in the franchise. SCE has yet to announce or confirm such a title, so we will see whether this version will actually see active duty.
